As Requested

Here's what the billboard looks like. I only go into town once a month, and I already went last week, so this will have to do. Sorry it's blurry, our camera is 5 years old and doesn't do what I want it to do.

This is Bridget on her first birthday.

This is Bridget the next day, when we actually got around to opening gifts.

15 Minutes of Fame

David is on the new billboard for the hospital. We think yesterday was the first day it was up, because that's when we got the first phone call from someone who saw it. It's not overly exciting; he's got his stethoscope out and listening to a patient. It makes me smile when I see it though, because that's my husband up there, and also because I don't think I would want my face on a billboard along the interstate...or anywhere else for that matter. But it doesn't bother him to have it up there.

He said that since Gooding has such a high illiteracy rate, most people that know him will probably think it's a Wanted poster and call the police. So if you're ever driving along Interstate 84 by Wendell, and looking at the billboards, wave hi to David (but don't call the police...or do. Maybe I can get him under house arrest and have him home for a little while.)

Comparison

People frequently remark how similar my kids look. I always hold out the hope that Bridget looks a little bit more like me than Jacob did, but after doing a side-by-side comparison of them at a year old, I don't think I can deceive myself anymore. I didn't have any good face shots of Bridget the last few weeks, but this is her at 11 months,

...and Jacob at 12 months.

First Room Finished

It's a little blurry, but you get the idea. We aren't doing the flooring in any of the rooms until we're completely done. No sense in ruining it with more remodel.

This one is a little dark, but it gives you a better sense of how big it is. The kids love it.

A What Kind of Party?

I got a phone call from an elderly woman in our ward today asking me if I would like to go with my neighbor (who is also elderly) to a make up party at her house. Confused, I asked if my neighbor needed me to drive her, because I really only wear make up about once a year...if I have to. No, she said that she would really like me to come and participate.

I don't think I'll be going seeing how 1) I feel totally okay with how I look without makeup, 2) My husband loves the way I look without it, 3) My children look at me weird when I do put it on, and 4) I'm allergic to a lot of it and it makes my face swell up.

Several people have tried to "help" me by giving me makeovers, and each time I go through the experience with amusement. I think it's funny that other people aren't okay with the fact that I'm okay with how I look. How silly is that? I never want to be offensive though, so I let them do their thing, tell them they did a fabulous job, then wash it off as soon as I get home.

So in lieu of painting my face so I can "look nice" for my loved ones, I'm going to stay home and spend time with them instead.

Oh Happy Day!

After a year of battles, Jacob has decided to be potty trained. I'm so happy! I'm also glad that I didn't use the nazi-mommy approach my friends here were suggesting. I think our relationship is better for it. Anyway, he is voluntarily using the bathroom and also waking up dry at night...hooray!

2nd Study

The second study I did was this tree. It was actually a lot of fun, and I'm starting to get a better feel for the brushes and the paint. The grass was a little bit troublesome, but I have a lot of chances to practice so I guess I won't worry about it right now.
