Frogs, Fingernails, and Pumpkins

The other night I was closing the curtains for the evening and found this little guy hopping around our laundry room. I have no idea where he came from, because the irrigation canals have been dry for weeks, and I don't know how he got in our house. In any case, there he was and the kids were ecstatic. Jacob wanted to keep it as a pet, but I told him we wouldn't be able to find enough bugs in the winter time for it. We took it to the river the next day.

I don't care for fingernail polish, but I have a bottle that I bought a year ago. I used it to paint pink on some cars for Bridget last year when Jacob refused to share his cars with her. We were rounding up the cars the other day, and Jacob wanted me to repaint the fingernail polish on Bridget's cars for her since it was flaking off. When I brought it out, Bridget thought it was something to eat. I had to paint one of her fingernails to show her exactly what it was for, and then of course, one was not enough. Jacob thought that was pretty exciting, and insisted on all 10 of his fingers being painted as well, along with 5 of his toes.

Jacob drew the face on his pumpkin all by himself this year. I don't know if you can see it, but there is one ginormous tooth on the bottom. I love this pumpkin.

David didn't want to namby-pamby around with kitchen knives, so he brought out the power tools. That is a reciprocating saw, if you're wondering.

Tile

We just finished doing the tile for the shower and floor. We haven't done the grout yet, but you get the general idea.

Paint, drums, and exercise

Jacob wanted to make a drum the other day, so of course Bridget had to make one too. Thank goodness I had 2 oatmeal containers hanging around downstairs, and the drum parade could go on.

I gave David some new weights for his birthday, and Jacob has been begging me ever since for some little weights his size. David's mom had some she wasn't using, and was kind enough to bring them when she came to visit. Thankfully she brought a couple of different ones, so Bridget can exercise too. They exercise with David every morning, and it may be the cuteset thing I've seen them do so far. I just stand there and grin.

We painted the bathroom yesterday, and have the backer board ready for the tile in the shower and on the floor. I'm excited that we're moving along so fast, especially since Bridget has decided to start potty training herself. I was trying to wait until the bathroom was finished, but she's very determined.

I started this painting back before I got pregnant, and I haven't been able to finish it until this afternoon. It was so satisfying to be able to paint again, I wish I had more time. There's a time and a season to everything I guess, and life will have a little more balance soon, I hope.
