Evolution of a sentence

"Go get your jammies."

"Go get your jammies on."

"Go get your jammies on now."

"Now go get yout jammy top on."

"Go into your bedroom. Pick up your jammy top, and put it on your body. Now, please."

I finally found time

It's been months since I've had a chance to break out my paints. I finally found a few minutes here and there to work on it. The kids love to paint with me, and if you're wondering what I did with Anne, just know that yes, it is possible to paint with one hand while bouncing a baby with the other.

Another study. I learn so much from doing these. They're fun.

I never thought I'd forget...

I ran to the store real quick last night to get some medicine for my kids. They're sick, and I didn't want to face the night unprepared. I hurried across the parking lot, through the store door, and toward the medicine aisle. It was as I was walking along when I noticed that my legs felt a little breezy. Did I forget to wear pants?! I was pretty sure I had put them on that morning, but I had a head cold, and who knows what I could have done. I didn't want to look silly by stopping dead stride and looking down to see if I had pants on, so I bustled down the cough and cold aisle to check.

Imagine my relief to see that they were right where I had put them that morning, on my legs. It just felt breezy because my pants were thin material, and it was really cold outside, so I was feeling the cold more than normal. I will be happy to be over this head cold, and have a few more of my wits about me.

The Sphynx and Natural Fuel

David and I have decided that the military should be paying us to have children. They are a superhuman. They don't eat, they don't sleep, and they never give up. Anne is the master of 5 minute naps, and is sure that she doesn't want to miss out on anything that might be going on. I rush as quickly as I can to get things done in these 5 minute intervals, peeking in the bassinette as I rush by. Every time she starts to stir, I think of The Neverending Story, and Atreyu as he faces the first gate to the Southern Oracle. In my mind I hear, "The Sphynxs' eyes are opening!...Run Atreyu! Run!"

I am always tempted to dive for cover acreoss the front room floor, but then when I see that cute little face looking up at me, I stop and pick her up instead. How can I say no to that?

She's also super cute when she discovers something new, such as the ceiling. It's like she's never seen anything so wonderful.

This afternoon I found Jacob filling the lawnmower with "gas". I don't know how well this biofuel will work though, considering it was made up of water thickly mixed with mud. He had gotten the gas cap off, and was carefully pouring it in with his little sand shovel. David will not be happy when he gets home. This picture is a little bit later, when he asked me to dig a big hole underground for him. Request denied.

New dress

I bought some material for a couple of dresses for Bridget last week. She's growing really fast, and there are no dresses in the hand-me-downs we have, so I've decided to make some. It took me almost a week to make, not that it was hard, but because I have a colicky baby, laundry, meals, and a few other things going on. Every day she would grab it off the sewing table and ask if she could wear it yet. Today was the day that she could, so I'm letting her wear it all morning until lunch. She's such a girly girl.

She's also spending a lot of time in Anne's car seat. Funny girl.

Haircut

Bridget's ends were getting kind of stringy, so I trimmed them off to one length. Now we just have to wait for it to grow long again. Also, she's pulling a weird face in this picture. I love it.

Colic, monsters, and books

Wonder why I haven't posted much? This is what I've been doing.

Mom and Dad stopped by for a little bit a couple of weeks ago. The kids loved every minute they were here.
