Job Chart

The kids have been wanting a trampoline, so we decided to have them earn it. We don't have farm land to teach them the value of work right now, so we're getting creative. They have daily and weekly jobs to do, and a space for extra jobs and bonus points if they're good and kind to each other or listen well to me.

I let them pick out some stickers to use. Bridget picked princess ones and Jacob picked construction vehicles. No surprises there. The more bonus points they earn, the faster they can earn the trampoline. Let's just say that they are very motivated. My life has been filled with a lot less nagging since we started this, and all I have to do is threaten to remove a sticker when someone is misbehaving. Let's just hope the novelty doesn't wear off too soon.

Wow, Tracie! I have been getting a lot of requests at my houe for a trampoline too. How funny! I love that you are making the kiddos earn it. What a great teaching opportunity!

I have been trying to think of ways to involve the kids around the house more. I may borrow your chart idea...

hey, and i've been trying to get the ants that live in my cupboard to stop eating my butter and get more involved in not living in my cupboard....maybe they don't cooperate because there is no motivation. Maybe I will also steel your chart idea.

I think that is an excellent idea - to make the kids earn something that they want. If I had kids, I would want to steal that idea, too.
